Using Food to Increase your Average Ticket Sales

When a customer is in a spending mode, they are open to paying a little bit more to get more. Having something as simple as a rack of granola bars by the register can actively increase ticket sales.

Sometimes we are afraid to ask our customers if they would like something else: a muffin, a granola bar or a cup of oatmeal. In reality, many customers see you and your staff as specialist who could suggest the perfect pairing for their latte. Spend an extra 2 seconds to make sure your customers are completely satisfied, the result could be surprising.

Offering food combos is a great way to add to your ticket sales. For example: suggesting that a customer could get their drip coffee for a dollar with the purchase of an oatmeal. Any type of promotion would work, just make sure it is clearly marketed.

It is important to keep on top of current trends, and know what your customers like. This is a great time to increase your ticket average with Oatmeal as a breakfast option. Having it displayed right at your coffee bar reminds customers of their need for a nutritious breakfast and the convenience of your service. Using oatmeal promotions between 12pm – 2 pm like, “25% off a oatmeal with a purchase of a specialty beverage”, is a great way to encourage customers to come back for another beverage and use oatmeal as a quick lunch or snack. This way you will encourage customers during different day parts, and possibly multiple times a day!

Believe it or not, there are some people who just don’t love coffee (gasp!), but by offering oatmeal and promoting it with posters in your windows, you could start drawing in these customers for an easy breakfast. While they stop by for a quick, healthy snack, they may then be tempted by the teas and smoothies you sell, too. Also, consider even promoting a special and healthy “smoothie and oatmeal combo” for more traffic in your shop.

In With The New, In With The Old

NY-Header-2012“Out with the old and in with the new” is a common phrase this time of year, but while 2014 is bringing many new things to Stockton Graham & Co., we are continuing with what we know best… helping our customers offer exceptional specialty coffees and hand crafted drinks to build your business.

The biggest news in 2014 will be around some important upcoming anniversaries. Stockton Graham & Co. will celebrate our 20th anniversary providing great coffees to our customers!  Our sister company, Dilworth Coffee is celebrating their 25th anniversary as the original Charlotte coffeehouse.  At Stockton Graham & Co., several team members will also celebrate anniversaries with the company, with 5 of our team members celebrating over 10 years and two celebrating 6 to 9 years with us.

Last year, we introduced Modern Oats, a certified gluten-free and GMO free on demand oatmeal product for the coffee shop and café. We have been pleased with this product and are excited about the new point of sale materials they have introduced to help you increase your sales in 2014.

Some other continuations of the old into 2014 are two programs introduced during the waning weeks of 2013.  These include our revised Everyday Savings Program with volume based savings so the more you order, the more you save.  To also help you measure your savings or potential savings, our sales and customer care team can work with you on an individual customized savings assessment and pricing grid.
