Dear Joe,

I’ve got a deep freezer and I’d like to store some of my Dr. Smoothie puree inside. How long should this extend the shelf life?

Travis,

Thanks for your query and I’m glad you decided to contact us.

Contrary to popular opinion, freezing the Dr. Smoothie puree is not recommended by the manufacturer. In fact, Dr. Smoothie says that you absolutely should not freeze the product under any circumstances.

If my advice gets to you too late and you have already stored the smoothie mix, remove the product from the freezer and also remove the individual bottles from the cardboard cases. If the bottles are allowed to thaw inside the cardboard boxes, mold and mildew could start to develop due to the condensation build-up.

The shelf life of Dr. Smoothie puree unopened and kept in a cool, dry place is 4-6 months. To extend the shelf life by up to two years, refrigerate the puree between 35-37 degrees.

Yours in coffee,
