Brady Butler

 

Brady is Field Liaison for Stockton Graham & Co. and Dilworth Coffee. He focuses his attention on advising customers in the greater Charlotte area, supporting coffeehouses, restaurants, hotels and others who are starting or improving their business by offering specialty coffee.

A long-time home coffee enthusiast, Brady began his coffee career as a barista at Dilworth Coffeehouse in Matthews in 2006. After about a year there, he helped his family open The Coffee Garden in Stallings, NC. That’s where he gained his expertise in planning, building out and operating a coffeehouse.

Brady is a passionate member of the coffee community, helping plan and run coffee events for the local barista community and serving as a former Chapter Representative for the Barista Guild Association (BGA). In 2009, he founded Carolina Espresso Services to provide equipment, training and operational support for cafés in the metro Charlotte area. Under his leadership, Carolina Espresso Services became the area’s preferred independent service provider, supporting all major espresso equipment manufacturers and coffee companies.

Brady enjoys teaching others about coffee and earned his SCAA Lead Instructor Certificate in 2011 and his Golden Cup Technician Certificate in 2012. He began volunteering as a Lead Instructor at SCAA Expo in 2013.  As past Chair of the SCAA’s “Brew Crew”, he played a key role in developing the new SCA Professional Brewing curriculum. He remains involved in the BGA. His favorite way of brewing his coffee is Kalita Wave for its tasty and consistent results.

When not working directly with customers, Brady spends his time with his wife and son. He often takes the family on hiking trips in the mountains of North Carolina. He volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America, providing mentorship and leadership to scouts in the Charlotte area. Brady is also a pretty good cook, though he hasn’t shared any of his dishes with his team at Dilworth!

Favorite Coffee: Organic Ethiopia Limmu Natural. “This is a perfectly balanced coffee with a well-developed, but gentle, finish and a light, sweet aftertaste.”
