Featured Holiday Flavored Coffees Stockton Graham & Co. offers a number of holiday flavored coffees to add to your holiday cheer!
Apple Cobbler – What big holiday dinner is complete without a home-style cobbler? There’s something about seeing the cobbler sitting on the table, atop a crisp red and white tablecloth, that brings back fond memories of family gatherings past. Our favorite recipe calls for a filling of fresh apple slices topped off with a flaky pastry sprinkled with cinnamon.
Bourbon Pecan Pie – This familiar blend of flavors will warm your home during the holidays. The bourbon notes bind with warm pecans and create a wonderful match. Serve this alongside some holiday cookies, and the rich oak flavors will resonate throughout your home for hours.
Chocolate Peppermint – Remember the old candy commercials? When you take one sip of this flavored coffee it’s like…experiencing the sensation of biting into a peppermint paddy, with our own personal twist: Great specialty coffee! Bold dark chocolate coats refreshing, glacial mint nuances, creating a cup so hot, it’s cool!
Gingerbread Spice* – The spicy-sweet confections of Eastern Europe inspired this coffee. We’ve captured the scent and flavor of warm loaves of gingerbread fresh from the oven and complemented it with our own blend of cinnamon and hazelnut for a uniquely snappy taste!
Pumpkin Cheesecake – This flavor brings out the best of two delicious holiday desserts. Pumpkin pie spices mix with fresh cheesecake in a rich and savory brew. This flavored treat will bring joy to your home throughout the season, and you can drink as much as you want without the guilt of traditional cheesecake.
Pumpkin Hazelnut – Pumpkin Hazelnut is a perfect combination of pumpkin spice and hazelnut flavors. If you are looking to expand your flavored coffee offering for the fall season, this is great to keep in mind. The blend serves as the perfect transitional offering, and the wonderful autumn character will warm the hearts of your customers.
Pumpkin Spice* – This coffee is an aromatic blend of autumn favorites, including the taste of newly harvested pumpkin accented by a mélange of spices like nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, and more. It’s sure to warm you up and get you in the spirit of the fall! It also makes for a great gift when given to your nearest and dearest. Forget the bottle of wine; bring a pound of coffee to your fall dinner party!
Sugar Cookie – Sugar cookies have been a longtime holiday favorite. Their simple, buttery goodness is hard to improve on, but we think our addition of macadamia nuts really sets our recipe apart. That classic cookie taste in our own specialty coffee is our gift to you!
Toasted Macaroon – A macaroon is a cookie made with a paste of ground almonds. Our macaroon recipe comes to coffee with a lightly toasted sweetness, cream notes and just a hint of cinnamon. It’s an excellent choice for breakfast or for dunking macaroons!
Winter Wonderland – In celebration of the holiday season, we’ve put four outstanding flavors together in an enticing medley: a winter wonderland of hazelnut and caramel blanketed by a powdery snow of vanilla and coconut. It’s guaranteed to keep the cold away and warm your spirit with holiday cheer!
Yule Nog – Egg Nog has been a holiday tradition for centuries with old family recipes handed down through the generations, so each family’s tradition has its own distinctive flair. With our Yule Nog, we start with the classic creamy egg nog and add a cinnamon and nutmeg flavor spike. Combined with a slightly sweet finish, this coffee is sure to delight your family and guests this holiday season.
Seasonal Blends We also offer a number of seasonal holiday blends that complement the traditional rich holiday foods such as egg nog, sugar cookies, red velvet cake and more! Our seasonal blends are available in bulk 5 lb. bags and 12 oz. (6 count cases) point-of-purchase coffees.
Organic First Noel Blend – The First Noel Blend is inspired by the joy experienced from gathering with close friends and family during the season. Whether it’s a freshly fallen winter snow or sharing a kiss from a loved one under the mistletoe, this coffee is a toast to the season of giving and all of our favorite things, past and present, from a great year gone by. This blend is comprised of a French Roast blend of organic and fairly-traded coffees to complement any winter celebration. Make The First Noel Blend your new holiday tradition today.
Thanksgiving Day Blend – Nothing beats an incredible cup of coffee while gathering with family and friends during the holiday season. Our Roastmaster created this blend to unite the major coffee-growing regions of the world. Flavors from around the globe come together to form a dark-roasted blend appealing to a wide variety of palates. The perfect complement to a big piece of pie, Thanksgiving Blend will top off your meal and please everyone at your feast.
‘Tis the Season Blend* – Just as the holiday season brings us together, this worldly blend has a sweet, berry-like flavor and nice acidity. Flavor aside, the feel of this coffee in the mouth is a sensual, tactile experience all its own thanks to the perfectly balanced body. Though designed for the holiday season, this blend is excellent year-round.
Winter’s Comfort Blend – Winter’s Comfort puts warmth and flavor back into the colder months. It features a heavy body with a sweet spot of caramel followed by a nuanced, fruity-tasting finish. Paired with a warm, oven-fresh treat, it’s perfect for weathering the wintry cold.

With this year’s holiday season just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about how you plan to make the busiest time of the year a success. Studies show that 40% of sales during the six weeks prior to Christmas are a result of retail purchases: this is not something you want miss out on. Though retail sales are at their highs during the last few weeks of the year, they don’t generate themselves. Promoting bulk coffee and retail coffee sales is key during this time of the year. One great way to do this is by hosting a pre-holiday open house to showcase upcoming seasonal features to your customers.
Begin promoting your pre-holiday open house in October, with a plan to hold the event in early November. This gives your customers time to become aware of the event. A few weeks prior to the event, have employees remind customers of the time and date as they come in each day. Also, advertise your event details with signage near the entrance so everyone sees it as they come and go. Lastly, be sure to post it on your shop’s website, social media page and online community calendars. Today, social media is the easiest way to reach out to your whole customer base, so it is critical to have all details and updates posted on Facebook and/or Twitter. While promoting, consider mentioning free samples and giveaways and/or raffles which will take place at the event to help encourage your customers to attend.
So, what do pre-holiday open houses usually consist of? As mentioned before, this is a great time to emphasize your bulk bean program. Let guests know that a retail bag makes a perfect stocking-stuffer or a gift basket item. Also, this time of the year people tend to do a lot of entertaining, whether it is hosting holiday parties or hosting relatives. A fresh roasted retail bag of coffee or two would certainly be a great accessory to have! An open house is also a great time to introduce your upcoming seasonal features to customers. If you plan to bring in seasonal coffees, arrange for samples to be available at this time, and brew a few pots so your customers can taste test what you plan to bring in. This allows you to receive feedback, as well as collect preorders for customers who don’t want to miss out on your limited time offer. If you’re a bakery, consider having apple pie or other baked goods available so customers can sample and preorder their baked goods to pick up the week of Thanksgiving! The main objective of any pre-holiday open house is to get your customers excited about the upcoming holiday features you will be offering, while also convincing them to come to your store, as opposed to competitors, during the season.
This is also a fantastic way to show your appreciation for your regular customers. Business aside, an open house get-together is a perfect opportunity to have fun in a laid back environment and to say “thank you” to the people who generate a large portion of your sales. Let them know that this is not something that is designed to pressure them in to buying more, but a time to relax while enjoying a friendly, entertaining atmosphere with you, the shop owner. Nothing grows business better than strengthening relationships with customers.
Stockton Graham & Co.’s founder and former owner of multiple retail coffee shops, Jeff Vojta, said he would always hold a pre-holiday open house during this time of the year. “There is no better way to make your customers aware of what seasonal products you will be offering, and promote your retail program while it’s at it’s highest potential”, said Vojta. The fourth quarter is the most critical quarter of the year for all coffee shop owners, so make sure you are doing what it takes so help your 2013 go out with a bang! Happy Holidays!

With the school year rapidly approaching, it’s time to start planning on how to get students/faculty members near your café to become your customers and increase sales. One important and easy preparation for this is to make sure your store is stocked on all of the items you regularly offer! This could also include making sure you have adequate help on the schedule for peak hours, thus keeping the flow of customers moving comfortably and reducing waiting periods that may create a bad experience for people short on time that want a quick cup for the road.
Offering student discounts is a great way to create traffic in your café. Use the student’s ID as an identifier for the discounts. The students will let their peers know about the great savings and tastes your shop has to offer!
Another helpful strategy would be to make your presence known at nearby schools, as some people may not know your cafe is close. A couple proactive suggestions are to drop off brewed coffee at the school along with coupons, drop off branded traveler mugs that can be used as prizes for events/giveaways, offer to host PTA meetings or other after school programs and if the opportunity arises take out an ad in the year book or school paper! Although this may increase traffic in your café it is most important that these new visitors become repeat customers which is done with great customer service, knowledge of your product and of course preparing your product in a way that puts yours above the rest!
