Espresso
Espresso is the ultimate expression of coffee's flavor. It requires exact preparation—the right temperature, the right pressure, the right grind—to yield a concentrated dose of coffee essence.

Espresso is not a particular type of coffee. It's a method of preparation that creates an intensely flavorful brew in just an ounce or two of water. The same potential for unique drip coffees in single-origin varietals and blends exists for espresso, even using those same coffees.

Stockton Graham & Co.® offers over a dozen espresso blends. We've created these for use in milk-based drinks or to be drunk as straight shots. From smooth, sweet, and buttery for a rich after-dinner coffee to one that is more intense, smoky, and acidic to shine through milk and cocoa powder, we have solutions for any espresso application.

Espresso blends can be derived from any combination of beans and roast levels. Typically, we keep our blends to no more than four coffees, because using too many varietals tends to muddle the taste. Some blends are also created from the same varietal roasted to different degrees. When selecting beans and roast levels for espresso blends, the ultimate purpose of the blend dictates how we create it. Traditionally, espresso roasts are dark and oily in order to stand up nicely in milk-based drinks. However, a lighter roast is sometimes preferable, especially if the blend is to be consumed as a straight shot.

A coffee shop's espresso is the backbone of its specialty beverage menu. Finding the right blend is crucial. If you can't find a match in our catalogue of proven espresso blends, we can work with you to create a custom blend that suits your café perfectly.
