CUPPING FOR COFFEESHOP OWNERS

WHY TAKE THIS CLASS?

What sets apart an independent coffee shop from its chain competition is largely the quality of its products, the passion of its staff, and its strong connection with the community. The strengths of chain stores, on the other hand, lie most basically in their large numbers and the familiarity of customers with their menus and products. Hosting a cupping at your store not only plays to your strengths, it also minimizes those of your competition’s, helping you to succeed.

Why it is important to learn how to lead cuppings?

• Builds community
• Inspires loyalty
• Market research
• Establishes your coffee expertise
• Raises employee training level and morale
• Attracts gourmet clientele
• Separates you from chain stores
• Teaches new/non-customers what good coffee can taste like
• Tends to increase whole bean sales
